We are short of potatoes, milk and sugar.
Our food bank only opened nearly four years ago; a decade ago food banks were scarce. Many were started by volunteers concerned about people struggling financially. This one now forms an essential part of the town’s social safety net. To use the food bank, a referral is needed, typically from social services housing support officers, local charities Citizens Advice or DIAL. Dozens of volunteers work more than 4 hours a week stocktaking, picking up and distributing food.
